This page details the OpticalOwl.org Commenting Policy. People who wish to leave comments on this website or any article or page are required to read this page fully.
Users and readers of OpticalOwl are free to comment and share their opinions and the editors of this site actively encourage reader participation.
The writers, editors, administrators, and owners still retain all rights to edit, censor, or delete comments with or without cause or explanation to those that leave comments. Comments can and will be removed at administrators’ and editors’ discretion or will not be approved if we deem that they do not comply with our commenting guidelines detailed below.
Free speech is a treasured principle by most people, and as a result comments are fundamentally appreciated regardless of the author or viewpoint. However, free speach isn’t an excuse to be to be nasty to others. While we do retain the right to edit or delete comments we are incredibly reluctant to do so and view it as a last resort, but if a comment isn’t something someone would say in front of their family or friends, it’s inappropriate for this family-oriented website about the online glasses industry. We are here to help people obtain the vision they need.
Comments should also add something to the conversation – if they don’t, or if the contribution isn’t relevant to the topic, the comment may be removed.
Play and stay nice. Really – it’s that simple.
When leaving a comment you are automatically signed-up for the OpticalOwl weekly newsletter. If you do not wish to receive this please uncheck the appropriate box.
Finally, this comment moderation policy is not perfectly outlined or executed. It may change over time when OpticalOwl deems it necessary. We will strive to be fair and consistent in our comment policy to all those that participate in comments. It is possible we will fail to catch some comments that violate these commenting policies possibly due to limited time. If you feel a comment should or should not be moderated, please contact us to bring it to our attention.

If a commenter refuses to engage in a conversation and dialogue with what has been written, i.e., they leave comments but refuse to respond when addressed, their comments may be deleted. If a commenter attempts to dominate a blog post with multiple comments, those comments may be deleted. If a comment isn’t related to the topic at hand, it may be edited or deleted.
4. Commenters will be banned when:
They fail to heed warnings about any behavior described above or they clearly have no interests in contributing to the community. If a commenter constantly leaves adversarial comments for the purpose of “stirring things up,” they may be banned from commenting and/or visiting the site. If the comments never adds – and only detract – the commenter will eventually be banned.
5. Blatant attacks and criticism of authors, editors, or other commenters
Criticism of OpticalOwl content is always welcome, as are challenges and disagreements. We can’t agree on everything all the time. Attacks on the blog authors or fellow commenters, however, are inappropriate and may be deleted. If a comment crosses the line, the commenter may or may not receive an email from the blog administrator describing exactly why their comment has been edited or deleted.
6. Don’t like the way we manage and moderate comments?

*Re-post your comment and send us a note so we can be sure it’s not accidentally being deleted or incorrectly marked as spam.
